Years ago, you’d mod Minecraft by dragging files into the Minecraft JAR. You needed to delete the META-INF folder for the game to launch as it contains a digital signature which is only valid when the game hasn’t been tampered with.

That was before we had mods folders where we just drag mods straight into the folder. Back then, you had to mess with the actual game files to mod the game.

We take the mods folder for granted now.

I'm more meaning it not as excuse, but that there are many "bad" things which people do and hardly anyone cares about, which are much worse than in this situation, making me think that this kind of thing doesn't deserve that much attention right now, but this is probably a bad explanation of what I mean anyways xD
