  I am sorry I never responded earlier. You can easily get the level by checking the meta data of the entity.
  
  if (ent.hasMetadata(MetaTag.Level.toString())) {
  int level = ent.getMetadata(MetaTag.Level.toString()).get(0).asInt();
  }
  
  I can add an API for this though.
