Was wondering if 1.8 support for ViaBackwards is coming?

Pretty sure if it would be possible, it'd be done, either way, I'd like to know if that's being done right now or is there any technical limitation.

  Never tried it and don't want to as I've got viabackwards set up on all servers, I'll rather wait for further new mc versions.

  How about adding an auto updater with an option to disable it? Sorry if there's such option. I've noticed only a notification that tells whether there's an update, but it'd be cool if it would update itself automatically, because when an update comes out, I need to install the update on multiple servers one by one.
