Ever heard the 'teach a man to fish' proverb?
No, and I don't plan on it either?
Essentially, it's like this: If someone doesn't want to know how something is done or how to do that something but does, in fact, want that thing to happen, then the only thing actually doing it for them will do is foster ignorance.
You also miss the point that in this hypothetical scenario the person does not, in fact, want to know how to do something. Doing it for them will both acclimate them to relying on others for everything and will remove any incentive for them to learn.
I would much, much rather have one more intelligent person who understands how things work in this community than ten more people that just want people to make their problems go away.
Calm down, it was just a funny post on your profile... Sheesh
Except it was a post that highlighted a gross misunderstanding of both what I said and what I meant. Once again, I prefer not to foster ignorance. If it takes me 5 minutes to educate you as to how this works, I call it time well spent.
Also, I note your post on your own profile states that high goals are more important than a good outcome. Isn't refusing to learn setting a low goal for yourself, and wanting to learn setting a high goal?
(Apparently there's a 420 character limit here. The more you know.)
