NOTE: I am not currently maintaining this project. It was something I wrote 2 years ago when I was new to plugin development, and as a result it isn't very well written. I started to try to fix it a while ago, but it was a very big task and I eventually just dropped it because I ran out of time. You can still download and install the plugin at your own risk, but please be aware that I am not maintaining it and will provide no support.
There may be a fixed version or complete rewrite sometime in the future, but I currently have no plans to make this in the immediate future.

ChatRooms is a plugin that allows for better private chat between groups of people without using private message commands or talking on global chat. The plugin allows users to create "chat rooms" and then invite others to them, so that their group may converse privately.

    • Create private or public rooms.
    • Allow users to join by invite only.
    • Commands for administration
      • Ban command to ban users from rooms
      • Mute command to mute users
      • Kick command to remove users from rooms
      • Spy command to see private chat in other rooms
    • Fully 1.8 compatible - will still work if you change your name!
    • And more!
Simply drop the plugin into your plugins folder and run your server once. ChatRooms will generate its own configuration file, which you should visit.
Afterwards, restart/reload your server, and ChatRooms should be ready to go!
Please note: This plugin was written and compiled under Java 8! Make sure your server is running with Java 8, or the plugin will not work!

Visit the GitHub wiki for information on commands, permissions and more. NOTE: The wiki is outdated and inaccurate as of right now! I'm working on updating it, but I've been very busy.

Have a bug, problem, question, or feature request for ChatRooms? Please create a GitHub issue here!

Please use issues instead of replying to this resource! Issues are better for separating and organizing problems, and they don't clutter the discussion thread! I may not see your problem if it's a comment on this resource!

Works 1.11, but please, let us translate the plugins messages. Now, this text is just for complete the 100 characters.
    Thanks for your plugin

Such an amazing tool. At the beggining I thought it wasn´t working because no message was shown when talking trhough a chat roon, but I later realized this was because the text format in config.yml was empty.

This is really helpful- Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Very nice, can edit the messages now. However the /cr reload command does not reload the new messages. I actually needed to reload my entire server. Fix this please =) but overall great plugin I will use for my creative server so roleplays can happen privately in chatrooms by players.

Works like a charm. A bit confusing on the /cr help since you need to actually put in a number for the page. But overall its great for creative servers to roleplays on their plots =). so I will be using this. I suggest adding configuration on that formatting for the chat room so its not just [test] <Player> text. allow it to look more interesting. =) thanks for the plugin. What are the permissions though?

      Thanks for the review! :D
The /cr help command has been fixed in 2.0.1. Also, the configuration is being updated to allow said formatting (coming very soon in 2.1.0)
The github wiki ( will soon list all the available permissions and commands, it's being updated right now.
