MLG Damage Indicators 1.2.1

Holographic indicators showing the amount of damage/healing done to an entity

So, those numbers that pop out to show how much damage your attack did in those video games? Well, here it is in Minecraft with the use of "holograms."

Well, it was already brought here by some other plugins, but there's only a handful out there that are updated sporadically or something, which is why some people wanted my version of it. So here it is, unbundled from my main server plugin.

If you guys could contribute videos or images of it, I'd be a-ok sticking them on here. Otherwise I think you can see them in my DeathSpectating plugin video:

    • Shows damage dealt (by entities - ignores block damage like cactus, lava, etc.)
    • Shows healing
    • Indicators "float" up from the entity
    • Healing/Damage is displayed as a 1 point = 1 heart. (In MC, 1 health point = half heart. Thus, the total damage dealt/healed is divided by 2 internally).
There is no config, and I don't intend to put one in to prevent unnecessary clutter in the plugin folder (and also the infinite suggestions that can come forth - no, I'm not going to make holograms bounce around) - but I will take any suggestions and PRs to the source.

Also idk if it works on older versions (it probably does).
If you would like to donate, I'd highly appreciate those of authentic spiritual substance, as those are both infinitely more necessary and worthwhile. Praying a rosary for the intentions of reparation of the sins against the Immaculate Heart would be one of the best.

If you still insist on providing monetary support, I have a patreon.

The plugin is good, but not using asynchronous, 100+ players are severely lag, please optimize the plugin function "displayIndicator"

Reviews are not for support, please post in the discussion thread if you have issues.

Please paste a /timings paste URL in the discussion thread to identify the true source of lag - this in itself should cause very little (server) lag.

If you're talking about client lag - nothing that can be done about that, other than flat out not displaying some indicators in the first place.

Unfortunately nothing here can safely be done asynchronously, nor is it doing much at all that would warrant lag, unless you have some _other_ plugin firing a bazillion fake damage/heal events (e.g. slimefun does this.)

Very cool plugin. Apart from that it doesn't show accurate damage amounts. Could you please have a config option to show accurate damage instead of how many Hearts were lost? Such as 10 instead of 5 or 9 instead of 4.5. Its quite confusing for players to see that a weapon deals 10 dmg then have 5s popping up. Even just a basic config option would be nice to enable / disable the division by 2. Thanks!

      Thanks for the review.

That's the thing, creating a config = creating a folder and checking it and whatnot. An extra 5-10+ lines or so in different places.

Idk, I may extend functionality in the future when I have time and some cool ideas. This used to be just another class in my server plugin, and made it its own plugin upon request by others frustrated with other dead plugins (which was partly also why I made my own in the first place, lol).

Finally found a Damage Indicator plugin that works. Does what it does, simple as that.

Yea, it was getting annoying that the plugin I was using before was a) effectively abandoned and b) obfuscated...

Nice one. Big fan of you. Keep creating awesome content. This do not have issue on performance of armor stand ticking. (< 0.5% of whole entity ticks). Gladly recommend this plugin to enhance gaming experience for your server.

As long as I'm using it, yup. It's really the holographicdisplays plugin that needs to stay up-to-date tho
