    Source Code:

"SBNameTags" adds color to player names above their heads and in the tablist (optional via config) by using the scoreboard API. It should be noted here that this may cause problems if you are using other plugins that use the scoreboard API.

    1. Copy SBNameTags.jar into your /plugins directory
    2. Assign permissions
    3. Start your server
    • sbnametags.all (parent permission, should only be used as described below)
    • sbnametags.dark_blue
    • sbnametags.dark_green
    • sbnametags.dark_aqua
    • sbnametags.dark_red
    • sbnametags.dark_purple
    • sbnametags.gray
    • sbnametags.dark_gray
    • sbnametags.aqua
    • sbnametags.light_purple
    • sbnametags.yellow
    • sbnametags.white
    • sbnametags.obfuscated
    • sbnametags.bold
    • sbnametags.strikethrough
    • sbnametags.underline
    • sbnametags.italic
Please be aware that using '*' as a permission for a user or group will assign all colors to that user or group. You will need to assign a color the following way if you are using '*':
    Code (YAML):
      - -sbnametags.all
      - '*'
    • tablist - boolean if you want names to be colored in the tablist
    • refresh - integer (ticks) at which to refresh nametags

If you run into any server performance problems, or if the plugin is not working as advertised (console errors, bugs, etc.), please do not hesitate to contact me, post in the discussion thread, or open an issue on GitHub.

It does work, but the idea is nothing special. I think those plugins doesn't make sense for kinda "professional" servers because it CAN'T handle the colored tab when scoreboard is active, which is very sad, because every lobby server needs one. And don't tell me "That isn't possible right now". Look at the big Servers out there. It might be complicated, but not unable to make. Doesn't have a use for me.

I appreciate the feedback. Please keep in mind it is a free resource which I uploaded to solve a simple problem. I never intended to provide extensive functionality or integration with other resources. If you have no use for the resource, you are not required to use it by any means. If you want me to potentially create a custom version for you, I can do that, and for free. I have already done this for someone else as well. Have a nice day.

It works perfectly. However, can you be able to implement the feature of colored names in the chat as well as colored chat? If you can't, can you be kind enough to link me to a good one that implements just that? :p If you could implement the permissions feature into it, that would be amazing!

I have config plans for the future, and probably somewhat of a rewrite as well. I'll see if I can update the plugin soon. :)

can't see the color, and what if the player is op? What color and name will it show? I'm the owner so I'm always op and I can't see the difference

It's good but would be better if just set with commands ingame and the permissions were used to be able to do the commands.

I don't see why that's better. Why not just assign permissions?

Seems like a good plugin. You should add some colors like bold and italic that would help! but overall its a great plugin good job!
