1.14.3 - performance fixes?

    is 1.14.3 will solve current 1.14.2 performance problems?

    i'm open for test 1.14.3-pre2 or any other on my network if 1.14.3-pre builds will be available

    currently i have 4 survival servers and its take a time to maintenance them :)

    yes, 1.14.3 solves some issues. does it solve all? no. is it good enough for you to run? you decide.

    yes i use 1.14.2 spigot - compiled every new version and update it works.

    and it just works even on E5-2660 v2 (40 Cores) with 1600 MHz memory

    As you can see there are some issues from 1.14.2 or before which were solved :

    In 1.14.3 Pre-1
    From released versions before 1.14
    • MC-74407 – Villager inventories can get into a state where villagers cannot do anything useful
    • MC-123836 – Double blocks are not loaded in structures
    • MC-135001 – Beds drop as an item when loaded in a structure
    From 1.14
    • MC-138053 – /gamerule spectatorsGenerateChunks being false prevents chunks from being loaded
    • MC-143369 – Wandering trader text implies trades refresh
    • MC-144507 – The legs on cats clip through to the top of the model
    • MC-145863 – Villagers breed even if there are not enough beds
    • MC-146429 – Farmer villagers stumble between farming and using their composters
    • MC-146835 – Illager captain spawned from raids will still give the bad omen effect to its killer, causing raids to never end
    • MC-147740 – Villagers sometimes don't restock
    • MC-147851 – Villagers frequently run right into mobs they are trying to avoid
    • MC-148013 – Farmer villager behavior too lazy / not farming at all
    • MC-148610 – Hostile mobs spawning on top of trapdoors, glowstone and sea lanterns

    • MC-153222 – Broken/incorrect recipe files cause a data pack not to load with nothing in log
    • MC-153355 – java.util.NoSuchElementException ticking entity crash when a workstation is destroyed near a villager with a job

    In 1.14.3 Pre-2 :

    • MC-72390 – Rcon is not thread-safe.
    • MC-124170 – Performance issue with particles causing lag.
    • MC-129491 – Advancement location trigger works inconsistently for structures added in 1.9 or later.
    From 1.14
    • MC-139257 – Server crash on reload when world border is modified.
    • MC-141301 – Illager patrols spawning on blocks mobs should not spawn on, such as slabs, carpets, stairs, etc.
    • MC-142360 – Pillagers patrols can spawn pillagers on top of trees inside a leaf block.
    • MC-144107 – Miscalculation of camera position in windowed mode on Linux.
    • MC-144929 – When there is water above a water source, other water sources adjacent to the water source flow outwards.
    • MC-146433 – Double chest does not display custom name.
    • MC-148354 – Guardians require water to spawn from spawners.
    • MC-148600 – Zombie pigmen will spread their anger forever if they can continuously respawn.
    • MC-148986 – Low-tier enchants from level 30 standard enchanting setups.
    • MC-149207 – Water with blocks above will convert to flowing water for no reason.
    • MC-149877 – Baby foxes suffocate when jumping under blocks.
    • MC-150401 – Chickens suffocate if jumping while under a solid block.
    • MC-150954 – Pillager patrol spawning is off: they spawn too close to each other, in odd biomes, and too frequently.
    From 1.14.1
    • MC-151566 – Pillagers patrols can spawn outside world border.
    • MC-151989 – Players in survival do not get the dolphin's grace effect if the dolphin cannot path to the player.
    • MC-152638 – Villager trade GUI does not close when a major change happens to the villager, leading to free trades and quick stock refreshing.
    From 1.14.2
    • MC-152182 – Trading halls are non-viable: employed villagers sometimes un-bond from an existing workbench within 2 blocks, apprentice ranks and above cannot re-bond unless moved 96 blocks away and back.
    • MC-153221 – Dragon fireball causes FPS to crash.
    From the previous development version
    • MC-153714 – Old graphics card warning on Mac despite having recent hardware.
    • MC-153730 – /reload does not work if there are too many new data packs.
    • MC-153734 – Vanilla data pack disabled after upgrading a world to 1.14.3 (items do not drop, fishing does not work, no advancements, etc).

    But now, we can just hope that 1.14.3 will better than 1.14.2 ^^

I find things so hard to understand with this 1.14.2 version, I start the server, I go in to see if it runs smooth, I leave after a minute, and attempt this with another account that has no rights or whatsoever(like every new player has on a new server) and it bounces me directly back to our hub...
    This is so annoying, and weirdest error messages that really makes no sense at all, blaming every fine tested 1.14.x plugin to the limit, and all we get is trouble...
    These are the times that I really do not want to maintain a server anymore (telling my boss I am unhappy!!!)
  6. From what I can tell with 1.14.3-pre4, it starts my server up almost twice as fast, and chunks are generating a little faster too (even with custom world generation running), so there is hope.

    There is a reason 1.14.x is still considered development builds and not meant to be used for production yet. If you have issues with new players not being able to connect to a server, that sounds like an issue with plugins because I have never had that issue arise for me.

  7. You should be aware that many plugins are NOT specifically optimised for MC 1.14.x and maybe never will be!
  8. .3 pre4 is out, you can go test.

    I noticed not a single difference in fixing performance issues.
  9. As for me, I have a really bad computer and I can say 1.14.3-pre4 is the version that runs better. Even if it does not have Optifine yet (it's still a pre-release) it runs better than any 1.13.X or 1.14.X with Optifine.
