A records and SRV records

  1. I currently have my records setup like this:
    A record: srvserver.server.com
    SRV record: server.server.com -----> srvserver.mineyc.com:27170

    This works for me, the srv record points to the A record and specifies the port, players can connect.

    One of the sites I had my servers listed on (PlanetMinecraft) unfortunately does not support SRV records and so I would have to use my A record.

    I heard from someone that if both an A record and SRV record have the same address then minecraft will default to the A record even if the priority favours the SRV address (MC doesnt support priorities?)

    Can anyone verify this or suggest a solution to this problem?
    I don't want to have to use my A record and server port on planetminecraft.

    If PMC doesn't support SRV records you will need to use your A record, thats about as simple as it gets.
  3. Yeah. I tried using my srv record on PMC and it didn't work unfortunately, so you will have to use your A Record!
