Best JVM for minecraft?

Discussion in 'Performance Tweaking' started by wachecheiro, Jul 15, 2021.

  1. Hi, I've been reading that OpenJ9 runs very well in minecraft, it consumes less ram among other benefits vs hotspot, but I'm new to the matter, I think I understand that there are other options apart from these two.

I have also read comments that in the long term of gameplay, Hotspot would be a better alternative than OpenJ9, but opinions are everywhere, I do not know what to stay with.

    Any recommendation?

OpenJ9 was designed for short lived, low memory cloud applications. Minecraft servers are none of that. OpenJ9 will not be the correct choice for 99.9% of servers. Unless you know exactly what you are doing and have an extremely well understanding how your exact server setup works you should stick with Hotspot.
