Rejected Built in anti-advertising?

    I think spigot should have built in anti-advertising, blocking both IP's and domain names.

    How would this be possible?
    Would it not be possible to find possible IP's, and then ping them to see if they are a server? if they are, ban the player, and mute the chat message.

    What would this stop?
    COME ON THIS AWESOME SERVER FREE DIAMONDS ON JOIN: <IP>
    COME ON THIS AWESOME SERVER FREE DIAMONDS ON JOIN: <IP>
    COME ON THIS AWESOME SERVER FREE DIAMONDS ON JOIN: <IP>
    COME ON THIS AWESOME SERVER FREE DIAMONDS ON JOIN: <IP>.... etc.

    Ok, i know there are plugins for this, but i belive it would be much better as a built-in thing, and also more people would have it.
     
  2. that belongs to a plugin, a plugin to do such a thing does not cause any lag, as it can be done purely async.

    AntiAd dosent do it, AntiAdvertising dosent do it..

    Good idea.
    Any tips on code for identifying IP's, and pinging another ip with code?
     
  6. You could identify it using regular expressions.

    You mean like .net, and then look back in the message to the next space, get that, and then ping the IP?
