Solved Bypass character limit in custom above head names

Discussion in 'Spigot Plugin Development' started by TheWolvesKing, Jan 14, 2020.

  1. Hi guys,
I need to change the player's above head name, but if I use ProtocolLib to change the name "TheWolvesKing" to "[ADMIN] TheWolvesKing" it gives me an error when I try to join, saying that the player name is longer than the maximum. Is there any way to bypass it?
    Thanks in advance
  2. You have to use a scoreboard prefix/suffix to get around it.
  3. No I need it without the scoreboard. I need to use packets or similar systems
  4. 1) Create your own naming system with armorstands and simmiliar mounted (can be done all packet based)
    2) The char limit is hard coded so not possible without scoreboards (can also be done with packets)
  5. You just did it with packets like you said in the OP, you literally can’t do it that way without modifying the client.
  6. Okay guys, I fixed it.
I used the MultiLineAPI to bypass characters limit.
    Thank you guys
  7. It is no bypass. And no fix.
    It is another, less-used method.
  8. I resolved it, btw.
I know that it just hides the player name and replaced it with an entity, but it works, and allows me to add multiple lines to the name, so it’s even better
  9. How did you fix it?

Can you send the code maybe?
