Chunk purging

Discussion in 'Server & Community Management' started by gpugeek, May 17, 2015.

  1. Hey guys,
My map is going up about a 1gb every few days, and I have a 64GB ssd. I'm wondering if there's a way to delete chunks that haven't been touched in lets say, 90 days or something like that.

    Thanks guys and gals!

Edit: I do have a worldborder on the world which has been there since our current map has been live.

  2. You can just go into the world save, go into the region folder and there you have all the chunks saved in files of I think 512x512 blocks. You just look at the last changed date, and if it's older than 90 days you delete the file. This should work, but I do recommend to make a backup before doing it, because you never know when it goes bad. And you can use this tool from dinnerbone to see what blocks (the coordinates) are in the files https://dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/coordinates/ .

  3. Was thinking of that, but I'm also looking for a script I can run from a cron job or something just to automatically do it every month or something.

    Thanks for the post, though.
