Custom Domain as Server IP

Discussion in 'Server & Community Management' started by Raidor, Mar 21, 2019.

  1. Hello, I own the domain "SkyNations.org" and would like to set my server's IP address to "skynations.org".

Every tutorial I have seen only shows how do so with "play." or "mc.", etc. Can anyone help me?

(I am using GoDaddy if you needed to know.)

    Thanks!

Do you want to run a website and Minecraft server on the same server. If so simply point the domain to your server's IP. (In an A record) Otherwise if your website and Minecraft server are reachable through a different IP you'll have to use an SRV record to point the Minecraft client to a different IP when contacting your domain. See this guide for how to set this up, it involves creating a subdomain (e.g. server.skynations.org) that points to your Minecraft IP and then setting that in the SRV record as the target of the _minecraft service.

  3. Replace the mc or play with @.

    Problem solved.
