DDos protection, Do I need it?

    Hello,

    We had some ddos attacks in the past. Since 2 months we have ddos protection from javapipe.
    But since we have ddos protection it seem like the server runs a bit slow, no lag just a later respons time (higher ping). So I wonder if we could run our server with out ddos protection.

    Our server (dedicated) is hosted at limestoneNetworks.

    Specs:

    Dual Intel Xeon 5650
    60GB DDR3 ECC
    256GB Samsung 830 SSD
    1000mbps (uplink port speed)
    Windows 2008 Web Edition (64bit) (upgrading to enterprise soon so we can use the 60GB)

    We pay 700 USD /month for our dedicated server and 400 usd/month for our ddos protection.

    We use 4tb bandwidth/month.

    By you saying to the public that you may cancel any protection will red flag many griefers/attackers into wanting to try your server for some laughs. ;)

    I don't have LSN, but have thought about giving them a try.
    May want to wait for input on someone that uses there service.

    I had the same issue when i used javapipe, a lot more latency

    using staminus now. there is no noticeable lag at all :)

    LSN has amazing filters, just submit a ticket and your ddos problem will be gone.

    they will null route you for hours on larger attacks though

    Been DDOS'd a few times using OVH with absolutely zero affect to the servers. Made our teamspeak lag slightly but that's it.

    Then you haven't been hit hard, which plan are you using and how much incoming did you get?
