Feature Disable Chunk Generation

Discussion in 'Bugs & Feature Requests' started by EDawg878, Nov 25, 2012.

  1. This feature would be helpful since all the chunks I need in my world are already generated. I don't want to run a constant check e.g. WorldBorder every few ticks. Also, I believe that no plugin can (cleanly) block chunk generation because there is no way to actually cancel the event. After looking at the source of the plugin NoNewChunk: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/nonewchunk/ it seems very "hackish" and bad for long term. Would you consider adding this feature to Spigot?

  2. Interesting. Since the goal of Spigot is to enhance performance, this 'border' feature will do the job neatly.

  3. The plugin WorldBorder: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/worldborder/ does a great job generating chunks inside a defined radius

Definitely a needed plugin too haha, players running around generating chunks cripples my server instantly.
  5. If you have the disable chunk generating feature inside Spigot, then you won't need WorldBorder anymore, right? I'm just saying that if Spigot allow you to generate chunks in a defined radius then it would be handy. I'm not requesting the feature tho. Anyway, I edited my post to avoid confusion :)
