Good way of dealing with huge mobtraps/farms

  1. Hello

I run a few rather large servers.
Especially my Skyblock server, having 200 players on at once, is popular.
It's usually lag-free and the TPS is 20.
However a few days ago the amount of animals in particular was just too high, why I had to do /butcher -a, pissing off quite a few players. I exchange I gave them all the mob eggs to start a new farm meaning the problem will persist.

What is a good way of dealing with this sort of thing?
  2. /butcher

The -a command means all. Including sheep cows etc.

    I think..

    My cronjob...
    Code (Text):
    */30 * * * * screen -S faction -X stuff `echo -ne '\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b\b'`'butcher 5000'`echo -ne '\015'`
You don't need the \b, if you never really go on the console.

If that pisses them off, then you need some chunk limiter plugin.
Or give them MobCatcher, and advise them of weekly wipes so they at least are prepared.
  4. I think the -a flag restricts it to only animals and -f is the one that has all flags together. I believe /butcher on it's own only kills monsters.
    • Like Like x 1
  5. Anyone know a good mob per chunk limiter that removes monsters/animals from chunks at a certain number too? Otherwise people transport mob trap mobs to different chunks.
  6. I was thinking a plugin that was able to tell how many cows, sheep and pigs were within one chunk etc.
If it found a number higher then x then it would remove x% of them.
