  1. I want to teach myself how to use MySQL databases for Plugins I make. My issue is I have no clue where to start or what are good resources and bad ones. I have very little experience so I need everything from actually using the MySQL database and content referring to developing with the database.

  2. Learn about statements: SELECT, DELETE, INSERT, UPDATE (these 4 are commonly used)

Look up a tutorial to open a mySQL connection, Pogostick29dev has one if I recall correctly.

Get familiar with having tables, and how they can work together to gather information:

    SELECT `id` FROM `users` WHERE `username`='Darthmineboy'

    SELECT * FROM `stats` WHERE `id`='{id}'

  3. Okay thanks for the help, I'll start with getting use to MySQL tables.

  4. @bman7842 work in phpmyadmin. You can see the SQL statements and edit them.

  5. Yeah that's what I use.

  6. You'll be glad to know that learning the MySQL structure is actually trickier than the SQL query language itself or its implementation in Java (in my opinion).

    My reference for SQL statements:
    http://www.w3schools.com/sql/

As for its implementation in Java:

  7. Learn how to use connection pools and prepared statements. You can thank me later.
