HDD versus SDD

  1. I'd like some input from people with experience running larger servers. At roughly what player count should I expect to start running into disk I/O related bottlenecks if I'm running my server from a HDD?

Well i cant say X players, at any number it will help, imo it would be 100~

  3. It all depends on the HDD.
  4. I'm not sure exactly what specs the HDD's are outside of them being 2TB drives in RAID 1. I'm going to assume they'd be fairly "standard" 7200RPM drives. I'm looking at moving our server from our current shared hosting to a dedicated machine so we can more easily expand our slot count and possibly add a Tekkit server to the mix running on the same machine. We can go the HDD route and save some money, but if ~100 slots was anywhere near an accurate estimate that wouldn't be suitable for us. Right now we average about 45ish and sometimes hit peaks of 100+ on the weekends.
