[HELP] DNS is disabled on my OVH-VPS, how to enable?

Discussion in 'Systems Administration' started by NickFirenzoo, Apr 14, 2016.

  1. Hi,
I need help about DNS on my VPS which i ordered before 2 days, but DNS is not enabled.
On VPS has Reverse DNS from OVH, but secondary is not configured.
Can someone tell me how to fix the problem with dns to enable it, because I have installed minecraft server on VPS and people can't join, server doesn't work, server is online on panel, but because DNS is not enabled server shows offline.
    Thanks

  2. DNS shouldn't be a problem to reach your server.
You should always be able to login to SSH or something else, without DNS. There is probably something else wrong with your VPS.

  3. Everything is normal, it can afford to connect through the browser to the IP address of the server, and through MINECRAFT server tells off.
In panel OVH: PING, SSH, HTTP are enabled, DNS is disabled

Are you sure you just didn't setup firewall properly?

  5. What is the content of /etc/resolv.conf?

  6. search ovh.net
    nameserver 213.186.33.99

  7. I have set no firewall

Then it's not a DNS issue you're having. If you said everything else works fine but you can't connect to Minecraft, it's either a firewall problem or mis-configuration of your Minecraft server.

  9. Misconfiguration not believe it because I did the Hetzner dedi and working normally, how could I turn off the firewalls?

  10. Depends on your OS.
