[Help] How do I host a minecraft server on a VPS?

Discussion in 'Systems Administration' started by Frozen2237, May 29, 2017.

  1. I need help setting up a Minecraft server on a centos 6 VPS.

I installed screen and java 7.

    All servers are 1.7-1.8 compatible.\

  2. There are plenty of tutorials out there on forums and as well on youtube. Please do your research and once you have questions/certain problems then come here and ask for help. At the moment it seems that you are looking for someone who would potentially do everything for you.
  3. First I'd say install Java 8 instead of Java 7. Secondly, as KrustyLv has said above there are plenty of tutorials online on how to do this.

The first thing though is you will need to make your Spigot jar's with the guide here and the rest should be pretty easy.
  4. There is really none. Link me some (Bungeecord tutorials)

  5. Once again " do it for me "
http://prntscr.com/fdoj2v and that is just YouTube. Not going to give you google url, if you wanted to find tutorials you would have found them a long time ago.
  7. Calm down, turn off caps lock and listen to what others have said.
There are many tutorials on the Internet.
I'll give you a brief explanation but not too in-depth, why? Because there are tutorials on the Internet.
    1. Get console access to your VPS, probably using SSH
    2. Download Build Tools(Requires git)
    3. Run build tools(There's a guide in one of the wiki pages)
    4. Get your Spigot/CraftBukkit server which was generated with Build Tools
    5. Download Bungee Cord from here: https://ci.md-5.net/job/BungeeCord/
    6. Configure BungeeCord to direct to your server(s)

  8. same thing, there are tutorials for that as well. Once again - do your research please.

I highly suggest learning yourself. That's how I learned to use a VPS and a dedicated machine. You'll eventually get the hang of it. I began learning last August and I consist myself experienced with Linux administration at this point. Mainly with Ubuntu and now I'm using Centos 7.
