Discussion in 'Systems Administration' started by Dexylicious, May 29, 2017.

  1. Hi guys!

So basically my dedicated server Im using is still currently running under Java 7/Jr7 which is preventing me to use specific plugins on the server,
How would I be able to update the java?

    Thank you!

that depends on your OS and version of that OS. we need more info.

for ubuntu you can add this ppa ppa:webupd8team/java and then run sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer

if your server is on windows, you should just install java 8 as you would on any windows OS
  6. Will that work for server I'm using? Because I dont host the server on my computer it is a paid host

if you're using a shared host, you should speak to your hosting provider about it.
if you're actually using a dedicated server, you need to follow the instructions for whatever OS/distribution is installed on your server.
