How does SQL work?

  1. I'm creating a server with the plugin MineTexas Civcraft. It requires MySQL that I need to connect to with all this connection hostname and stuff. I don't comprehend any part of it. Can someone help or explain to me how to create a MySQL server? This is the config I'm trying to fill out:

    # MySQL database to store game data in across reloads.
    mysql:
    hostname: localhost
    port: '3306'
    database: game
    username: user
    password: 'PasswordForDatabaseUser'
    table_prefix: ''
    min_conns: '5'
    max_conns: '10'
    parts: '3'

    global_database:
    database: global
    hostname: localhost
    port: '3306'
    username: user
    password: 'PasswordForDatabaseUser'
    min_conns: '5'
    max_conns: '10'
    parts: '3'

  2. First of all, you need to actually have a server where you can settup the MYSQL database on.

  3. hostname is the ip address the server is on
    port is the server's port
database is a collection of tables in the server
user is the sql user. The users can have permissions
    password is the user's password
table_prefix I think is what the table's name would start with
min_conns is how many connections at once
max_conns is how many max connections at once.
i have no idea of parts

global is probably a shared one incase you have bungeecord or something

  4. This information is useless unless he actually have a SQL server where he can create the database on.

  5. I have successfully created a mySQL server I think with the MySQL server tool (MySql Workbench and such) I don't quite understand what the "Database" section is and what to fill it with

  6. Isn't this shown in a youtube video with the respective plugin you are trying to fix?
