How many users this server could hold in?

  1. Intelcore i5-2400 Quad core 3.1Ghz
    16GB DDR3 RAM
    2x 1TB HDD
    100Mbit Uplink
    10TB Bandwith
Well there are the stats. Any ideas how many users it could hold in it? :p

  2. It vastly depend on what kind of server/map you're running. If you're doing like a specific type of server which keeps people clustered together, you probably will hit the CPU wall before you hit the memory wall, and I'd say with i5 on 3.1Ghz, a wile guess of around 200 to 250 maybe? On the other hand, if you are doing the vanilla open world, go explore the wilderness and never cluster together kind of server, then you'll probably hit memory limit at maybe 175 to 200 concurrency. Maybe, just wild guesses, because actual performance varies very much, and depends on a wide range of things such as how clustered people are, and how memory intensive your plugins are.

  3. Thanks for the response! I will wait for more replyes tho :) Im most likely going to upgrade to those stats soon.

This is really close to what I have, only difference is I have i5-3570S.
Easily holds 100 on my faction server, just upgraded to that last weekend and 90/100 all night long without any issues.

Were trying ramdisk this weekend since we don't need the full 16gb.
The bootup time alone made me happy. :D

  6. I think someone posted a stress testing program on here a while ago, I'll try and find it for you.

  7. That depends on my factors such as used plugins, loaded worlds, spigot or craftbukkit, ...

However there is a small website for this: http://canihostaminecraftserver.com/
Not sure if its telling the truth..
