  1. Hi how do I make my craftbukkit server 24/7 for free without a host but off my own computer? a lot of people really like my server and keep telling me I should make it 24/7. So how can I do this?

  2. Uh, what? You just leave your computer on all the time and don't stop the server. Home hosting is generally a bad idea though, server hosting can go for pretty cheap these days.

  6. Is paying a few bucks a month really such a big deal? You could ask people to donate.

Remember to mark the thread as solved!

  11. Remember not to put any private things on the free host.
There are quite a few free hosts around (not only Minecraft) wanting to steal your data you put on there.

Now I know this has been said before, but if you ever save up enough money, I'd suggest taking a paid host.
This will not only solve the problem mentioned above, but will also have more ram, thus allowing more players on the server, or allow some heavier plugins. I have seen them around for < $3,50 / month, depending on how much RAM you want.

He may have a LOT of RAM on his computer.

  13. That doesn't mean it's a good idea. PCs are not meant for 24/7 server operation, and neither is his network. There is also no protection at all from attacks. If you don't live in Africa, $3 a month for a server is something everyone can afford, if not, maybe you shouldn't be running a server.

  16. That makes no sense. You're living on less than 10 cents a day? How do you have internet? Electricity? Food? Your website?

  17. You would have to leave the hosting pc on 24/7

  18. Also, leaving your computer on 24/7 would probably cost more than $3,50 for electricity ;). So I think money isn't the issue here

My parents pay for Internet, electricity, and food. Don't yours?
Also, my site is paid yearly, not monthly.

  20. Soo..if you can afford the site why can't you afford $3 a month? Just pay it yearly..? Ask your parents for $3?
