Is 1.8 PVP really different from 1.7 PVP?

  1. I just saw this video and I have some questions:

    1. Is this real?
    2. If it can you prove it in source code?
    3. Is it server-sided or client-sided?
    4. Is it fixable?
  2. 1. 50/50 Reach and other mechanics might have been affected when they changed the engine around a fair bit. They also introduced layers which adds a little bit more overall lag, and also complaints about "lag" when there is action going on, since there is more to calculate.
    2. Yes, but you'll need a fair bit of time for the digging around
    3. Mainly client sided, however you could override it server side if you spent alot of time working out vectors, damages, players location/past speed, but they it'll still be buggy.
    4. Easily, not really, unless there is client side modding involved.

Source: Trying to get the closed beta(official) optifine 1.8 to work in a modded environment before the release, so that we could easily stabilize rendering bugs once a beta version has been released.

  3. I agree! :)
  4. Would be great if there was a mod that fixes the visual 1.8 PVP changes back to 1.7. Does anyone know if there's one like this?
