  1. Is it possible to run a minecraft server on a virtual machine on your pc?
  2. Ofcourse. Why wouldn't it be possible? Virtualisation is done everywhere. Nowadays, containerization is getting more mainstream.

  3. Yes, it runs pretty well on VirtualBox, KVM, OpenVZ and any other virtualization or paravirtualization like FreeBSD jails.
  4. How do you do it. please educate me. xD
  5. It's done the same way you would with any other virtual machine, I personally run MVWare on my end but it isn't free. You could grab VirtualBox and a linux distro and run it on that.
  6. Strahan

In the city IT department I work for, when I started there in the late nineties we had multiple server rooms filled with racks of servers. Fast forward twenty years and now we have one server room with just a few beefy ass VM servers that are hosting the hundreds of servers we used to have. Virtualization is great, you can run just about anything virtualized. Just be sure you build a strong host machine with the resources to let your VMs run properly.
