Java 7 V Java 8

Discussion in 'Performance Tweaking' started by Xile, Nov 26, 2012.

  1. So I found out that beta builds of Java 8 are out, here and i was wondering if anybody who knows anything about this kind of stuff knows if there is a performance increase in Java 8 coming from Java 7.

I am yet to give my official verdict on Java 8, but I have been following development since it was a wee baby. The beta only came out a few weeks back.
Java 8 has mainly focused on expanding the language and APIs for developers.
For the only reason that a stable release is 10 months away I would say don't use Java 8. Also haven't looked into the JVM changes yet. You are welcome to try.
  5. alright thanks for clarifying
  6. And now with Java 8 public release ? ;)
