Lag help? Timing out on my own server

Discussion in 'Server & Community Management' started by RainOfPain125, Apr 19, 2018.

  1. I'm not sure why, but lately my PC has been having a hard time.

I'll get sudden frame drops, and its starting to get out of hand. I can't even connect to my own server through localhost without timing out of my own server. I open task manager and the machine seems to be fine, nothing is at 100% load (RAM, CPU, Storage, etc)

I have a feeling it has something to do with my server. I'm generating a timings report now so I can post it later. Though I wanted to make this post asap so I could get some feedback and thoughts on why this could be happening.

EDIT: Just an FYI I'm running my server with pretty alright specs. Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHZ 6-core CPU, 16GB's of RAM, and 7200RPM 1TB HDD.

    EDIT2:

constant rubberbanding and lag-backs. This had never happened before, ever.

  2. I did /lag and noticed this -

This is bizarre, and I have no clue why this many chunks would be loaded. I'm assuming this is the cause? Any ideas on what is causing all these chunks to be loaded?

  3. Try increasing the amount of allocated RAM done you only have ~400 MB remaining.

  4. Could you remove the following JVM flags

    -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=50 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=80 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=10 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=50 -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch

  5. I was told to follow a guide for 'optimizing' spigot - and those java flags were apart of it

I had been using these flags for months now and this has never happened during so, but when I get home from work I'll try that.

Just an update before I try this - all of those chunks are no longer loaded and my machine runs fine now

  6. I'm the only one on. Why would there be that much RAM usage from such an idle server?

I could try dedicating another GB but this seems quite a bit silly

  7. Yeah nevermind that, seems they were from a guide by Aikar. I would recommend setting the value of Xms to Xmx if performance is what you're after.

Also I noticed a huge worldedited stone structure, and a wand in your hand. Did you use worldedit shortly before the /lag command execution?

  8. Hell no x3 That was the foundation for the city we're building on our server that we made months ago.

  9. Still looking for halp ;3;
