[LINUX] Directory is Always in "Home" Folder

  1. I recently downloaded Spigot for my laptop with Linux (Elementary OS). When I first opened the .JAR file, the eula and server properties didn't show up. After searching my computer for them, I found them in my home folder, instead of the folder I had the other file in. I tried to move them to the same folder, but they were just recreated in the home folder again. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thx :)
  2. Did you open the .jar in your home folder? If so, that is why.
  3. You have to go into the directory of where you want it to be

    something called 'working directory' which is different from where the program is located
  4. I put it in a separate folder that was in my Home folder.
  5. Do you know how to make one? (I'm somewhat experienced with Linux, but not too much)
  6. i always used sftp. Made this up but I don't have my ubuntu thing running rn (network card aint working)
    Code (Text):
    sudo su
    apt-get install git
    apt-get install openjdk8 (i forgot)

    cd ~
    mkdir buildtools
    wget https://hub.spigotmc.org/jenkins/job/BuildTools/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/target/BuildTools.jar -O BuildTools.jar && java -jar BuildTools.jar

    cd ~
    mkdir server
    cd ~\buildtools
    cp spigot-<version>.jar ~\server\server-spigot.jar
