Minecraft Launch Error

  1. I made a modded client and it works in Eclipse and Windows, but when I try it on Linux it just crashes before the Mojang loading screen is finished. Anyone know why and how I can fix this?

  3. I guess 16GB of memory just for Minecraft isn't enough?

  4. Make sure you give Minecraft access to all the memory.

    The problem here is that you're telling Java it can use a stupid amount of memory, and it's running out when it tries to allocate more. There is no need to go beyond 2G in most cases, maybe 4G if you're running lots of mods, anything beyond that is just stupid. (Minecraft also does not get faster if you allocate a ton of ram to it, that's generally down to people not having much ram in the first place and java's calculation of how much to allocate by default is a bit too low).
