I personally know someone who has gotten an e-mail from [email protected], contacted Mojang, and confirmed it was legit.

    Discuss.

    EDIT 5:
In a 1.9.3-pre snapshot, a piece of code was discovered that pulls a list of blacklisted domains in the form of their respective SHA-1 values from https://sessionserver.mojang.com/blockedservers

The community has resolved many of these SHA-1 to their server names: https://git.aperture.lol/projects/MOJANG/repos/blockedservers/browse/blockedservers.txt

Players on version 1.9.3+ will be unable to join ANY domains listed in blockedservers.

  9. All the guys saying nobody should comply with the EULA and Mojang wouldn't do shit anyway probably feel pretty silly now.

I would guess that someone in Microsoft management is behind this, but we'll probably never know for sure.

  13. My opinion: Pay to win and excessive monetization are the worst sides of the Minecraft community. Mojang finally took the right decision and I appreciate it. I just hope it won't hurt sympathetic, small to medium sized servers / networks that monetize a bit in a moderate, fair way to stay alive.

  14. You know there are still huge amounts to pay for dedicated servers to even run these servers right?

You can just use this startup flag: -Dcom.mojang.eula.agree=true

The EULA is still legally binding no matter what you do, so it really doesn't matter.

  18. Well; I am under the 18 and I don't have parent permission, what then?

Is there another game that seems like this but isn't Minecraft?

Thinking of leaving Minecraft because all of this; thanks Mojang. *sigh*

  20. In the same boat, being under age means we cannot face high charges

    (don't hate if I'm wrong :p)
