MySQL Benefits for Dynmap + Dynmap Help

  1. Hey all! I currently own a geopolitical server where many people play. Currently, we are down for development of our new world. I'm trying to constantly improve and want to know how to do the dynmap for my newest world in the most effective way possible. I know the basics but I want to know a lot more.

What I'm currently doing using WorldBorder to fill in my map. My question is when I start rendering the dynmap, does MySQL make a difference? Will it help render speeds? I don't really understand what a MySQL Database is lol. Also, how can I have it where my players are able to zoom further out on the dynmap?

  2. mysql database is useful if you want to store map data on separate server, note that dynmap creates very many small image files, making backups take a while, so maybe it's better idea to use mysql for it so it doesn't interfere with normal server files

I think it would only slow down rendering speeds as mysql is definitely slower than normal files

  3. Great. Thanks a lot for the response!
