OVH - Adding servers to vRack

Discussion in 'Server & Community Management' started by MrDienns, Apr 29, 2017.

  1. Hi,

First of all, I know this ain't the best place to ask it, but OVH isn't known for their great support. No need to reply with "contact OVH instead".

I bought several VPS servers at OVH yesterday and I want to add them to a vRack. Thing is, they don't show up in my control panel. I've read somewhere that you must manually add them using some OpenStack commands using SSH. This is all fine, however, there is litteraly no documentation on this.

    As you can see here:

Is there anyone who knows how to do this? Or a link to some proper documentation where this is explained? I tried this one but I cannot get that to work.

    Any help is greatly appriciated.
  2. A VPS should be able to connect. Here are various screenshots that indicate this, please note, some is Dutch:

    Order: > >

    vRack page: > >

I think this clearly indicates that you should be able to add a VPS to a vRack.

  3. With public cloud they probably refer to, and not their VPS range.

I haven't found anything on the website that indicates that a VPS can be added to a vRack. If it was possible, they would have advertised it on the page of VPS, which is not the case.
  4. I've done the same thing; I haven't been able to find a way to connect them either.
  5. Wow, that is disgusting. Scumbag OVH. I was setting up a testing envirenment so its not an enormous issue, but it's still a dirty move of them to do this. I'll probably give them a call on monday and complain about it. I litteraly bought 10 servers...

  6. I honestly can't agree that this is their fault. They didn't advertise anywhere that their VPS can be added to a vRack.

  7. When you go to the vRack page and you click on the public cloud box, you're redirected to the normal cloud page instead of the actual public cloud, making it extremely confusing...
  8. Ah, that's definitely quite confusing. OVH is definitely not clear on what belongs where...
    • In the control panel VPS is listed under Dedicated
    • On the primary website VPS is listed under Cloud
If you don't mind me asking, what are you working on? Must be something very redundant, perhaps 10 bungeecord proxy's if it is Minecraft related?

  9. Not really. I'm making a fairly big Minecraft server which is currently in development. We hope to start an alpha in a month. I was buying several small VPS servers to start up a "testing" network. Y'know try building everything as close to realistic as possible, only on a smaller and cheaper scale using small VPS servers instead of full blown dedi's. I want to be ready for when we go alpha so doing a little testing and experimenting beforehand should be good :D
