1.15.2 Performance

Discussion in 'Spigot Plugin Development' started by BonseAbaan, Jan 28, 2020.

  1. Is it possible for plugins to be able to get mod like power? Changing a players position through a mod is much different from changing a players position through a plugin. Not to mention velocities and other things are not perfect, but somewhat slow and laggy compared to changing things through mods. Will minecraft serverside ever be more powerful than it is now, and is that possible?

Also, I believe minecraft's netcode is not server orientated. What changes would this bring to plugin performance if it was server oriented in terms of performance and smoothness of executing code?

Plugins will never get mod-like power, because they only interact with the server, and NOT the client. There are some hacky ways to 'emulate' mods (e.g. custom textures etc), but in the end the player will be running vanilla.
