Setting a block on fire

  1. So yes, this might be a silly and stupid question with an easy answer but how do I set a block on fire? I know there's a way to do it but I have no idea what that way is, I don't want to set the type to fire, I just want to ignite the block, is there a way to do that?

  2. If you mean like, setting the side of the block on fire, I think how that works is you have to set the block next to it to Material.FIRE. That's why when you right click the side of a non-flammable block with a flint and steel it flashes a fire block and then goes away.

  3. okay, I'll make the blockface above the block Material.FIRE

    loc.getWorld().getBlockAt(loc).getRelative(BlockFace.UP).setType(Material.FIRE);

    ended up with that but untested
