Special Characters Spigot 1.8

  1. Hey guys, so pretty much the only problem is whenever I use an alt character in a String, it outputs this in game:
(the ? is supposed to be a ►)

I am also having problems with the §, ♦, • characters as well.

Not sure if this is a version error or what is going on. Thanks!
  2. This is an encoding error. Looks like you copy pasted the § etc. symbols in code and something messed up.

You either set the encoding of your root/vserver wrong, or you got the encoding in code wrong.
  3. @thebmanswan541 try using unicode in your code, rather than the actual char (so \uXXXX where XXXX is the code which represents the character)
    • Agree Agree x 1
    • Useful Useful x 1
  4. I tried making ►, which the unicode is \u9658, and it shows a wierd symbol:
  5. Is there a guide for characters? I've seen servers that use like a >> symbol, pentagrams, etc. in the chat format. Is it a custom chat plugin, or do alt codes work in Minecraft?
  6. All I get in the previews are these. ⃯

    Thanks Chrome
  7. You just have to change the defaut enconding of your class to UTF8, and you will be able to use special character. ;)
    • Optimistic Optimistic x 1
  8. Save your file as UTF8
