Speed Stepping

Discussion in 'Performance Tweaking' started by Kainzo, Sep 19, 2013.

  1. Has anyone tested disabling speed-stepping in the bios and running minecraft server?

Thinking about testing this but wanted to see if anyone had some hard data.

That's an interesting idea, I would be interested in hearing the results of this. Mind if I ask what specs you're going to be doing it on? Or at least just the processor..

Really not sure what will happen performance wise, it should increase.

From what I'm reading, in theory it would increase the performance. Once I get the ram for my server I'm building, I will test this on my server as well but sadly that'll be another week.

  5. I'd like to know this as well. I never really came around to test it, but I will do it soon. Same setup as Kainzo.

My ram gets in tomorrow or early next week, once it comes in I will be able to test it (considering whether my bios supports it).

You're always testing out new methods/ideas.
How many players are you trying to hold on your e3-1270 v3?

  8. When you enable speedstep your CPU will downclock itself in idle mode and will clock to its stock clock at load. When you disable it, your CPU will always run at its stock clock.

  9. We hit 300 but there was some pretty fierce lag.
