Nice work ! Thanks
I read that whole Expectations & Entitlements paragraph. Now, i don't stay looped in to the community nor do i frequent comments/discussion sections however i am STUNNED and DISAPPOINTED in my fellow users for being so demanding of creators. On behalf of "the quiet" users of your wonderful builds i would like to thank ANY/ALL those who make them possible. Thank You
Upgraded to 1.16.4 today, went fine- going from 1.16.1, 1.16.2 and 1.16.3 servers. The ones that couldn't update to 1.16.4 just yet, they're on 1.16.3 now. I am glad we can stay current.
Only 2 of my servers are still on 1.16.3, don't know yet if Landlord/AreaShop would work, haven't tried it yet but I hope so xD
Nice work ! Thanks
what´s this forceUpgrade-argument, where can i use it? I only know the Build-Tools-way(maybe that´s an old outdated way). In the minecraft-server console? Can i choose to upgrade my 1.12.2-server to 1.15.2? What´s the correct command. I am going to update to 1.16.4, but i have read i first have to update to 1.15.2 for not crashing the world. Any other stop necessary? Or after 1.15.2 the way to 1.16.4 is open?
--forceUpgrade goes on the end of the command line you use to start your server. It will do a one-time upgrade of your region files to the new version. After the files are upgraded, stop your server and remove the forceUpgrade; you only want to run it once.
It might take several HOURS to finish.
I'm going to go against md_5's advice and say that you should go from 1.12.2 to 1.16.4 in one shot. I think some of the intermediate upgrades [have the potential to] introduce errors.
Update your plugins as necessary before you start.
And make sure you make a backup first!
On the converting process i don´t use any plugins. After beeing on 1.16.4 (and done the forceUpgrade-process) i am adding the plugins. So nothing is disturbing the converting-process.
But: you disagree with the programmer?
md_5 way to update isn´t 100% clear to me. I am coming from 1.12.2. So do i have to update to 1.13.2 first, then to 1.14.2, 1.15.2 and then to 1.16.2 and finally to 1.16.4? Or 1.13.0, 1.14.0, 1.15.2, 1.16.4. Or 1.5.2, then 1.16.4?
You'll need any world management plugins, e.g., Multiverse, so Spigot can find all your worlds.
o.k., i am using only bungechord proxy for a hungerworld-map next to the normal 3 world-files(world/nether/theend). The hungerworld-map has not to be updated, because it´s been recreated every server-start. So i think for me no update to the bungeechord-plugin is necessary.
Good job thanks
I updated from 1.12.2 to 1.15.2. I wrote --forceUpgrade server or -forceUpgrade server or forceUpgrade server in the server console, but i alway get an error-message:
"Unknown command. Type "/help" for help."
I tested --forceUpgrade/ -forceUpgrade forceUpgrade as starting argument, too. But then the server doesn´t star at all. Instead i am getting:
"Unrecognized option: --forceUpgrade"
If i try "forceUpgrade" as serverstart-argument i get:
Error: Mainclaas forceUpgrade could not be found or loaded
Now i am using the "-forceUpgrade" as optional flag and now it seems to work. I can read:
00:22:54 [INFO] Forcing world upgrade! World
00:22:54 [INFO] Counting chunks...
00:22:57 [INFO] Upgrading all chunks...
00:22:57 [INFO] 0% completed (0 / 34291 chunks)...
00:26:47 [INFO] 99% completed (34256 / 34291 chunks)...
00:26:47 [pool-5-thread-1/INFO] World optimizaton finished after 230458 ms
I hope that the correct thing.
After that i made the same thing with 1.16.4 - and getting this info:
00:44:35 [INFO] 99% completed (102649 / 102873 chunks)...
00:44:36 [pool-5-thread-1/INFO] World optimizaton finished after 301422 ms
00:44:36 [INFO] -------- World Settings For [World] --------
So a lot of more chunks. 34291 vs. 102873 Why?
Mojang changed the chunk format so there are more now. 16 blocks high vs 256 high, I think.
