Ubuntu server Firewall?

Discussion in 'Server & Community Management' started by owenftw, Feb 22, 2013.

  1. I have set up a few servers on a 32GB dedicated server and connected them using BungeeCord...
But I have only installed java and set up the minecraft servers on the dedicated server.

It's been a while since I have had to do something like this so not really sure what I need as protection.

I was told to lock it down with APF, BFD and change to a different SSH port.
but no idea where to find or how to install them so if anybody can point me in the right direction or give me some tips, That would be great :3 thanks

No idea what APF and BDF are....
To change SSH port, edit /etc/sshd/sshd_config and find 22 and change it to something else. As for firewall, look at iptables and the command in the Bungee thread.
  3. Thanks, Changed the port :)
I am also using that Iplist plugin so it's all sorted now :d thanks.

You do not need this plugin - http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/iplist/

Like lax & myself said, switch to localhost in your server properties or use iptables.
You have access to SSH so you can switch your port settings easily.

    Code (Text):
    iptables -I INPUT ! --src BUNGEE_IP -m tcp -p tcp --dport SERVER_PORT -j DROP
  5. ahh, I got the localhost thing to work,
This makes it so nobody can connect to any of the servers? Only by the main Ip?
If so then thanks =] I got it working now
