Unable to run 5 worlds at once on 10GBs of ram.

  1. Hello, I am just curious to know as why with Spigot and Multiverse, I can't run 5 worlds on 10GBs of RAM? Does anyone know why? When I have multiverse loading up it's 3rd world it just complains that it is out off memory, or that the heap size is too large, I can't copy and paste the error I am getting because after the error happens my console starts to go insane.

    Anyone know why I can't run 5 worlds on 10GBs of RAM??

    My run file:

    @Echo OFF

    SET BINDIR=%~dp0

    CD /D "%BINDIR%"

    java -Xincgc -Xincgc10244M -jar spigot_server.jar

  2. Nevermind I figured out the issue! Via the MV config, it is set to load the spawn chunks of all the worlds at all times, and if you disable that, it maybe takes milliseconds more to use portals, but it frees up GIGABYTES of ram!
  3. Use

    java -Xmx10244M -jar spigot_server.jar

    Your server probably only had 1,5 GB of RAM (default) because Xincgc is garbage collection related (quick google search, I don't know anything about it), not max memory size.

    The -Xmx flag specifies the maximum amount of memory the virtual machine can allocate.
    The -Xms flag specifies the initial memory size of the virtual machine.
