  1. As the title suggests, I was wondering if using mojang mappings is allowed (legally) for open source projects? Mostly because the code will be publicly available on GitHub, any releases of the plugin (or in this case library) will use the spigot mappings.

  2. Yes. A multitude of major projects are already using them. Spigot is the only exception. We had people from the community verify this directly with Mojang. Don't have references to the conversations, but I'm sure some could provide those.

I would like reference to these sources before I would trust the word of anyone other than mojang directly because of this legal statement

"The mappings" I assume is the file its self NOT the names seeing as Dinnerbone says the names can be used https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/1294314025807945729
