  1. Giving everyone a chance to flex their gear, all setups from budget to big pockets are welcome!

    My Rig:
    Motherboard : X570 Taichi
    CPU : AMD Ryzen 3700X
    GPU : AMD Radeon 5700XT
    Memory : 16 GB 3200 MHz
    OS: Windows
  2. 2017 5k iMac, few years old now.
and that mac hd is nvme 2500 read/write internal ssd

When i installed it in 2017 i made an effort with hue light strip and cable management to set it up nice and clean.

it's a bit more of a mess now hehe.

I am excited to see what apple m2 chips in the future might be for a mac mini, so i can replace this with a nice monitor and hang up the mac mini below the table and replace the table with a new wood plank with glass top table

I'm really feeling the need to get more RAM, 16 is just not enough. Also wanna pick up a second M.2 and setup a RAID0 volume; may as well get some more fast local storage.

  5. Doesn't that cpu go to 4.5 in turbo from 4.2, or you overclocking it to 5.2 ?
  6. Motherboard: Asus P8H77-M PRO
    CPU: Intel i7 3770k
    Memory: DDR3 32 GB
    GPU: Nvidia Quadro 2000 :(
OS: I have triple boot Windows, Arch, Hackintosh
    Storage: 224 GB SSD + 3x 1 TB Hard Drive Raid 0

Do you guys suggest a gpu for me i don't have too much budget.
  7. I have a hard time believing RAID 0 would make a significant difference, unless your motherboard can transfer data to the two M.2 devices in parallel.

Also note that you're doubling the chance of catastrophic failure.
  8. I used to have an iMac (actually the exact model that mrfloris has, same specs), but these days, I condensed everything into a single MacBook for the sake of simplicity. Occasionally, I use a 27-inch monitor from LG if I need more screen real estate for specific projects/work.

Overclocking. I wanted less noise so I bought an all-in-one water cooling kit and figured if I have that, I may as well try seeing to what level I can boost the CPU. I'm not really big into the OC scene, I'm not the type to sit here trying setting after setting to squeeze the best out of it so I just Googled and found the settings for someone at 5.2. Tried their config, tested it, was stable so I said cool and left it that way heh.

The RAID0 isn't for performance, it's for aggregating capacity.

The chance of failure is not that much of a worry. I've ran 18 drive RAID arrays for the last fourteen years and have only had to deal with a degraded array twice, and both times it wasn't a drive failure it was a communications problem. Pull drive tray, reseat, let array resync and all was fine again. So I'm not particularly sweating it. Especially as my system is backed up every night anyway, so if I do have a failure it's just replace drive, deploy a workstation build from WDS then restore data from backup. Wham, bam, thank ya' ma'am; back in business in less than 30 minutes ;)

  11. Just get a 1 TB drive. Switching from non-RAID to RAID will wipe all the data on your current drive anyway. So just put in a bigger drive.
  12. Why don't people use Ryzen's CPUs :(
  13. I know many guy says that Ryzen tend to fail even if reasonably overclocked.

  15. Your "setup" is not complete unless it includes a cat and some Minecon badges/lanyards.

Yea, I didn't phrase that well. When I said a second one I just meant switching to dual drives not buying another 512 GB drive. Cuz yea, given how cheap SSDs I wouldn't want to buy another small drive. I ended up splurging a little, as I was originally thinking 1 TB as well:
  17. Two 2 TB drives?

Yea, I have two M.2 ports so it feels like a waste to let one idle :)
  19. Too secret for this :p
