What's Your Ideal Hard Drive Setup?

Discussion in 'Hosting Advice' started by Fluxty, May 25, 2016.

  1. Should I be putting two SSD's on software raid-1 for Minecraft? Would it be better to just have one 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD for backups? 3 hard drives maybe?

If you were getting a dedicated server (with bungee) with hundreds of players what would your hard drive setup look like?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

  2. Ideally I would have...
    2xSSDs in RAID 1
    1xHDD as a backup drive

Throw in a remote backup to run occasionally then you can pretty much well "bullet proofed" against total data loss.

Depends, are you looking to spend money or save money? Modern SSDs are very reliable for long term use so if you don't plan to use OVH (since they're cheap and have RAID-1 default) then you could easily go with a 250GB/500GB SSD with a 1TB backup drive.
