Why Spigot?

Discussion in 'Spigot Discussion' started by QUEEF, Jun 13, 2015.

  1. Why does Spigot need to be compiled on my machine. Why can't it come precompiled and compressed at a low 13mb as CraftBukkit was.

I'm compiling it right now and it's likely going to take an hour and the folder size is over 240mb. Which is a bit excessive. The only reason I'm using Spigot is because that guy DMCA'd CraftBukkit.

  3. Oh now I see. Ok mods close this thread.
  4. Mods don't just read threads in case someone asks for a lock - report it if you wish for it to be locked.
  5. I don't know all the legal semantics, but essentially because they cannot legally distribute the compiled version AFAIK - Anyone with better info correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. It's simple, before you was getting compressed bytecode in a nice small file. Now, you're getting uncompressed long lines of ordinary Java code.
