Why should I open source my premium plugin?

Premium and open source combines the best of both worlds. There are plenty and plenty of people that do not know how to compile a plugin from source. There are plenty of people who will just buy the plugin and get updates easier that way. People that do know how to compile will save a few bucks if they want to. The fact that it's open source means you don't have to worry about leaks, because it's already public anyway. Open source also allows for way better support from the development community as anyone can submit features they made, fix bugs themselves, etc.

The issue with FactionsUUID was that md_5 changed the rules and allowed a free version of a premium resource to be posted and blamed me for choosing the GPL when 1. I didn't because I'm not the original author and 2. all plugins are GPL or a compatible license https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.en.html#OOPLang https://github.com/Bukkit/Bukkit/blob/master/LICENCE.txt anyway so not sure why he made an exception because I'm the only one not pretending my license isn't GPL.

To clarify, my projects have no DRM and never will. You're free to clone my projects off of Github and compile and use them and I'll just be happy more people are using my work <3

Some of the biggest premium plugins are open source, such as Citizens, PlotSquared, and mcMMO. This list attempts to compile a complete list of OS premium plugins in the hope more will take this stance in the future.
